Louise V. Claussen, 89, of Burlington died at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born April 27, 1923, in New Sharon, she was the daughter of Cecil and Valena GrovesVan Cleave. She was married to Bert H. Claussen. He died April 4, 2004.
Mrs. Claussen retired from Maytag Co., where she worked 30 years. She and her husband moved to Burlington in 2003. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and Moose Lodge in Newton. She enjoyed camping and attending Moose Lodge events.
Survivors include one son, Gerald D. "Jerry" Claussen of Burlington; one daughter, Barbara Jean Mendham of Riverside, Calif.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Glen Van Cleave of Newton.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one grandchild, her parents and one brother.
No visitation or service is planned for Mrs. Claussen. The body has been cremated.
A memorial has been established for the Natalie Claussen-Rogers Scholarship Fund for needy children in care of Jerry Claussen
