Colfax – Funeral services for Jerry Duane Kartchner were conducted Sunday afternoon, May 31, at the Methodist church in Colfax.
Jerry Duane was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kartchner of California, former residents of this community. The mother is the former Janet Owens. She and her son had come to Colfax about a month ago to visit relatives when the little fellow became ill. He was taken to the Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines where he died Friday, May 29, at the age of 3 years and 11 months.
The Rev. W. M. Doughty conducted the services. Music was by Mrs. George Rinker and Mrs. Earl Plummer, accompanied by Miss Eleanor Howell.
Pallbearers were James Riley, Pat Riley, Raymond Meckley and Bobby Owens.
The floral committee included Eleanor Zachary and Colene White. Interment was at McKeever cemetery.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kartchner left Tuesday, June 2, to return to their home at Long Beach, Calif.
