Jerry Lee Barnard, 81, passed away at the Accura Healthcare of Marshalltown, Thursday morning, February 11, 2021, with his wife by his side.

A time of remembrance and celebration of life graveside services at Newton Union Cemetery, will be held at a later date. The Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton have been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to Jerry's family, or to a charity of your choosing.

Jerry L. Barnard, the son of Alan and Celia (Shockey) Barnard, was born April 19, 1939, in Eldora.

In 1976, Jerry was united in marriage with Jan Goehring, and were currently residing in Marshalltown. He retired in 1996 at Farmhand in Grinnell. Jerry devoted his life to his family and friends, and was a member of the Moose Lodge, where he held several titles. Was a member of the Saddle Club, card clubs, and dart groups. Jerry enjoyed camping, bowling, dancing, and country music. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather Carl Schumann; his daughter-in-law Nancy Barnard; and a brother Robert Glenn Barnard.

Those left to honor Jerry's memory include his wife of 44 years, Jan; his daughter Kelly (Curtis) Short; his three sons: Bob, Berlou, and Kevin Barnard (Vicki Hoard); his twelve grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; his stepsister Joyce Schumann (Rose Polito); and his many good neighbors and friends.
