Hold Rites For Marijean Moffitt
Six Year Old Girl Dies Suddenly Friday Afternoon
Funeral services for Marijean Moffitt, six year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Perry Moffitt, Newton R.F.D. 1, who died Friday afternoon while enroute to the hospital, were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Morgan Funeral home. Rev. Ross Mills of Green Mountain was in charge of the service.
Interment followed at the Newton Union cemetery.
Eleanor Pink and Wilma Visser were in charge of the flowers and the pallbearers were Chester Bell, E. L. Pink, P. A. Halfleigh and Arthur Deutsch.
Music was furnished by Louis Toedt who sang “Jewels” and “Going Home.” He was accompanied by Mrs. Vera Trevits Scheel.
Marijean Moffitt was born in Des Moines on July 6, 1932. All of her brief life was spent with her family in Jasper county near Newton. During the past school year she attended Lone Rock rural school in Sherman Township.
Several weeks ago she developed symptoms of some muscular ailment from which she apparently almost recovered, when quite suddenly lung and heart complication caused her death last Friday at the age of 5 years, 11 months and 17 days.
She is survived by her parents, two brothers, Lester and Paul and a younger sister, Carolyn Sue. Surviving her also are her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Moffitt of Newton, and Mrs. Ida Toedt of Colfax.
