Mrs. Edward Lyday, 75, Dies In California
Mrs. Edward Lyday, 75, of Los Angeles, Calif., formerly of Newton, died in that city on July 4.
The body was cremated and the ashes returned to Newton where interment was made in the Newton Union cemetery by the graveside of her daughter, Mrs. Stacia Lloyd. Mrs. Lyday, the former Mrs. Georgia Ann Upton, was proprietress of the European Hotel in Newton for a number of years. She had been in failing health for some time.
In addition to her husband, surviving relatives are: a brother, Charles Ryan of Seattle, Wash.; a half-brother, Ray Lewis of Grinnell; an uncle, John Rice of Grinnell, and several cousins, including Mrs. Jim Brady of Newton.
