Walter Barker Died Thursday
Walter W. Barker, 59, 225 Washington Ave., died about 11 a.m. Thursday at Mary Greeley Hospital. He had been in ill health for the past year.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. from Adams Funeral Home with the Rev. E. E. Peters of the Calvary United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Greencastle Cemetery near Mingo.
Mr. Barker was born Dec. 28, 1909 at Reydon, Okla. and came to Ames in 1966 from Mingo. He had been a trucker and a farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Nadine; two sons, Joe, at home, and Douglas of Des Moines; a daughter, Mrs. Linda Aleman of Nevada; four granddaughters; two brothers, Denver of Mingo and Guy of Roe, Ark.
He is also survived by four sisters, Mrs. Faye Plumb, Gladys Barker and Mrs. Thelma Finley of Newton.
The body will lie in state at the Adams Funeral Home Friday afternoon until the time of service.
