William "Bill" J. Bergman
September 20, 1924 ~ January 28, 2017 (age 92)Bill’s family will greet friends from 4:30-7 p.m., Wednesday, February 1st at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton.

William “Bill” J. Bergman, the son of Harry and Beryl (Hayter) Bergman was born on September 20, 1924 in Newton, Iowa. He was a graduate of Newton High School in 1942. Bill served his country in the U. S. Navy from January of 1943 till March of 1946 during WW II.
On March 2, 1956, Bill was united in marriage with Gloria Jean Constant in Newton. They were blessed with four children, Jack, Jim, Toni and Tami. Bill farmed until his retirement. Bill’s family was a very important part of his life. He loved all sports and was a big Iowa Hawkeyes and St. Louis Cardinals Fan. Bill was a devoted and caring husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother, uncle and friend.
Bill died on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the Newton Health Care Center in Newton, he was 92. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Gloria in 2008; grandson, Andrew Murphy; brother, Jack; and sisters, Madge, Marilyn and Marge.
Those left to honor Bill’s memory are his children Jack (April) Bergman of Baraboo, Wisconsin, Jim (Shannon) Bergman of Newton, Toni (Doug) Gumbel of Polk City and Tami Murphy of Baxter; nine grandchildren, Tiffany, Thad, Joe, Jeff, Alex, Emily, Parker, Sydney and Adrienne; and his three great-grandchildren, Madalynn, William and Mason. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa Sat 28 Jan 2017
