Carol M. Van Rees, 67, of Reasnor, died on Monday, January 16, 2017, at Newton Healthcare Center. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, January 23, 2017, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 1 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home until the time of service. Memorials in Carol’s name may be left at the funeral home.

Carol, the daughter of Charles and Myrtle (Beaver) Simmons, was born on February 18, 1949 in Hamilton, Iowa. She grew up in the Knoxville area before being united in marriage with Terry Van Rees on December 24, 1965. Terry and Carol moved to California for a few years prior to making their home in Reasnor, Iowa. Carol was a homemaker raising the couples three children: Henry, Doug, and Rose. Carol loved to read and enjoyed animals of all kinds. She was always very welcoming and soft-hearted to everyone.

Carol is survived by her husband, Terry of Reasnor; children, Henry (Angela) Van Rees, Doug Van Rees, and Rose Van Rees (Tim Brown), all of Reasnor; four grandchildren, Brad (Jenny) Shook, Tommy Shook, Samantha Van Rees, and Lane Van Rees; her eight great-grandchildren; siblings, Charles Simmons, Donna (Frenchie) Favory, Roberta Worthington, Darlene Gladson, Kenneth Simmons, Harold Simmons, Norman Simmons, and Pammy Pettyjohn; and her many nieces and nephews.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Vernon Simmons, Melvin Simmons, and Viky Simmons. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa 16 Jan 2017.
