MIDLAND, Mich. - Claudia H. Lippincott, 87, of Midland, Mich., formerly of Colfax, died Saturday, Nov. 5, 2005, at Mid-Michigan Stratford Village in Midland.
Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Colfax. Graveside burial with full military honors will follow at Colfax City Cemetery. Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax is handling arrangements.
Friends may call at the church on Friday from 1 p.m. until time of service. Memorials may be made to the Activities Department of Mid-Michigan Stratford Village, 2121 Rockwell Drive, Midland, MI 48642 or a charity of the donor's choice.
The daughter of Claude H. Rodgers and Opal (Kline) Rodgers, she was born July 17, 1918, in Des Moines. She graduated from Colfax High School in 1936 and from St. Joseph's School of Nursing, affiliated with DePaul University in Chicago, in 1939. She worked as a registered nurse for the University of Iowa Hospital until 1942 when she enlisted in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps. She served in the European African Middle Eastern Theater and the Asiatic Pacific Theater aboard the U.S. Army Hospital Ship Larkspur and the S. S. Mariposa. After separation from the Army, she married Crawford C. Lippincott in November 1946. She returned to nursing in the mid-1960s and worked for Iowa Methodist Hospital's Younkers Rehabilitation Center in Des Moines. She retired in 1980. Mrs. Lippincott was a long-time resident of Colfax and moved to Midland, Mich., in 1998 to be near her daughter, ------------. She is survived by two daughters ------------ of Midland, Mich., and of Bealton, Va.; a sister, Dorra Burnett of Denver, Colo.; a niece and a nephew; and special friends, Bill and Mary Pratt.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
