David D. Deaton
September 29, 1939 ~ December 29, 2016 (age 77)

David’s funeral service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 4th at the funeral home.

The family will greet friends from 10-11 a.m., Wednesday, January 4th at the funeral home.

Burial will be at the Greencastle Cemetery in rural Colfax; following the funeral service and lunch.

Memorials to the Emerson Hough Chapter of the Izaak Walton League or to the Donor’s Choice may be left at the funeral home. Memorials may also be mailed to the funeral home, please add, Attn: Deaton Family on the envelope.

David Duane Deaton the son of Delbert and Mae Boucher Deaton was born on September 29, 1939 in Mingo, Iowa. He was a graduate of Mingo High School in 1959.

David was a truck driver; he had driven for Dave Paine Trucking, Western Transportation; Mid Seven Transportation as an owner/operator and later as a company driver, Keith Tiffany Trucking and then for the Jasper County Highway Department. David was a member of the Emerson Hough Chapter of the Izaak Walton League and he was a member of Teamsters Local 710 and 347. David enjoyed going to the county fairs and to the Iowa State Fair to watch his grandchildren show their exhibits. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, 4-wheeling and camping.

David passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Mercy Hospice of Johnston in Johnston, Iowa, he was 77. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, John and Ronald Deaton; sisters, LaVerne Deaton, Betty Westberg and Kathy Deaton.

Those left to honor David’s memory are his children, David (Janet) Deaton of Baxter and Deanna (Jeff) Holmes of LuVerne; five grandchildren, Cody (Jen) Holmes of Lu Verne, Danielle Holmes (Troy Kane) of Story City, Tanner Holmes of Des Moines, Derek Deaton of Baxter and Shelby Deaton of Baxter; his great-grandson, Koen Kane of Story City; brother, Delbert “Sonny” Deaton of Story City; half brother, Tim (Wanda) Deaton of Newton; half sisters, Debbie McNeely of Altoona, Pam (Michael) Czerwiec of Orlando, Florida and Brenda (Mike) Hansen of Newton; his former wife, Bertha Deaton of Newton; and many nieces and nephews. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa 29 Dec 2016.
