Mrs. Floyd F. (Mary J) Schwarz, 59, of 1304 S. 4th Ave W., who was the first Maytag Co. queen, died Thursday evening, July 26, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

A wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 29, at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 30, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

The Rev. E. William Kaska, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Saturday, July 28.

A memorial has been established in Mrs. Schwarz's name. Memorials may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are her husband; a son, Ronald of Lafayette, La.; a daughter, Mrs. Rick (Beth) Spilly of Newton; and three grandchildren.

Also surviving are a brother, William C. Johnson of St. Charles, and four sisters, Mrs. Veronica Chance of Newton, Mrs. Bill (Catherine) Mataya and Mrs. Leroy (Naomi) Bashor, both of Des Moines, and Mrs. Don (Cecilia) Schissel of Omaha, Neb.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Schwarz was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Richland Grange and the Skiff Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

A Maytag employee during World War II, she was part owner and operator of Henry's Drive In and had been employed by the Iowa Liquor Commission.

The daughter of William and Lilly Egy Johnson, she was born July 9, 1925 at Stuart and was a graduate of Stuart High School.

She was married Oct. 21, 1945 in Omaha, Neb.
