Cora P. Sjaardema

PELLA - Mrs. Cora P. Sjaardema, 77, of Pella, a native of the Galesburg area and former resident of Sully, died Monday, July 16, at the Pella Community Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 19, at the Trinity Reformed Church in Pella.

The Rev. Simon G. Terlouw, assisted by the rev. Richard A. De Jong, will conduct services. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Pella.

Memorials to the Pella Trinity Reformed Church will be accepted.

Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors are a son, Doward of Pella; three granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Clifford (Nell) Irish and Mrs. Arnold (Jeanette) Klein, both of Pella.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and a sister.

Mrs. Sjaardema was a member of the Trinity Reformed Church and the Pella Community Hospital Auxiliary.

Mrs. Sjaardema and her husband operated a mercantile business in Sully for several years.

After she moved to Pella in 1953, she worked at the overall factory and De Jong Floral and retired from Pella Rollscreen.

The daughter of William and Jane De Bruin Paltzer, she was born Sept. 3, 1906 near Galesburg and attended Jasper County schools.

She was married to William Sjaardema Oct. 6, 1930 in Pella. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Tues 17 July 1984.
