Erma E. Davis Dies on Friday; Services Tuesday

NEWTON - Mrs. Ralph B. (Erma) E. Davis, 73, of 600 N. 4th Ave. E., a resident of Newton since 1957, died Friday afternoon following an accident in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Wallace Funeral Home.

The Rev. Carlton Christenson, pastor of the First Baptist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorial contributions to the First Baptist Church Memorial Fund will be accepted.

Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Tom (Sherry Ann) Chidester and Mrs. James (Connie Jean) Martin Sr., both of Des Moines, and Mrs. Sharon Kay Doty of Newton; three grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a sister, Freida M. Mc Candless of Hamilton, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Mrs. Davis was a member of the First Baptist Church, Newton Chapter 100 Order of Eastern Star, was a former board member of the Camp Fire Girls organization and a Red Cross volunteer.

Mrs. Davis had worked at the Jack and Jill Store for a number of years and then at the Fashionette Ladies Store.

The daughter of Adam and Addie Adams Beckey, she was born Oct. 12, 1909 at Grandview and attended Louisa County Schools.

She was married March 8, 1953 in Muscatine. ~ The Newton Daily News, Mon 26 Apr 1982 Page 6.
