Father of Resident Died

J. D. Mitchell, 66, of Albia died of a heart ailment Tuesday, April 13, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines. Services were held Friday, April 13, at Geyer-Nordstrom Funeral Chapel and burial was in Oakview Cemetery (Albia).

Mr. Mitchell, who retired from John Morrell and Co., was born in Des Moines and lived most of his life in Albia.

He is survived by his wife, Drentha; a son, Michael of Albia; two daughters, Vicki Wheatcraft of Colfax and Michele Bowers of Peoria, Ill.; a step-daughter, Evelyn Reynolds of Burlington; two sisters, Mary Lou Edwards of Knoxville and Gerry Murphy of Albia; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. ~ Jasper County Tribune, Baxter, Iowa, April 22, 1993.
