Those left to honor Bill’s memory are his wife of 41+ years, Dee of Newton; two daughters, Joli Gibbs (Chad Mitchell) of Newton and Alli Gibbs of Newton; his three grandchildren, Skyler, Spencer and Kennedi Gibbs-Mitchell of Newton; mother-in-law, Mabel Hobbs of Newton; his sister-in-law, Dennise Sutton of Newton; and his brother-in-law, Robert (Cindy) Hobbs of Johnston, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and half sister, Betty Perryman.

Bill was a graduate of Newton High School in 1968. He also graduated from Ellsworth Community College. He served his country in the U.S. Army and the Iowa Army National Guard.

Bill worked for Hy-Vee for 44 years, retiring on April 1, 2014.

Bill was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Westwood Golf Course and Moose Lodge No. 923. He loved being with his family and he enjoyed golfing, dancing, yard work, woodworking, boating and camping.

Memorials to Westwood Golf Course or to the Glaucoma Research Foundation may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home or the church on the morning of the service.
