Thelma Darlene Williams, 86, of Newton died on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at Nelson Manor Nursing Home. A graveside service is pending. The Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory is handling the cremation.

Darlene the daughter of Charles W. and Dorotha E. (Haines) Cross, was born on October 14, 1928 in Toledo, Ohio. She moved to Newton as a young girl. Darlene worked as an executive secretary at the United Telephone Company for 25 years, retiring in 1986.

Darlene is survived by her daughter, Deana Williams; 5 grandchildren including, Aaron (Jennifer) Williams, Stephen Williams, and Cari Williams; 6 great-grandchildren, Damon and Chase Williams, Emily and Shelby Williams, and Nathan and Austin Ward; and her brother-in-law, Donald Henderson of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Timothy Williams; her sister, Carol Henderson; and a granddaughter, Aimee Erickson. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa 24 Mar 2015.
