Rhonda L. McClannahan, 72, of Altoona died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Colfax. Visitation will be at the church, where family will greet friends prior to the funeral service from noon to 2 p.m. Following the funeral service the family will greet friends during a luncheon at the church. A private family burial will be held at a later date.

The daughter of Milo Raymond and Bernice Beatrice (Ades) Stevens, Rhonda was born on September 17, 1938 in Colfax. She was a graduate of Colfax High School, class of 1956. On June 3, 1956 Rhonda was united in marriage with Harlan Creighton McClannahan at the Presbyterian Church in Colfax. Rhonda worked hard as a dedicated homemaker for her family. Once the children were older, Rhonda went on to work at Dahl’s and then West Bank. Rhonda’s family was the light of her life, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those left to honor Rhonda’s memory are four children; Desi (Roger) Rowles of Grand Junction, Iowa, Terry (LaVonna) McClannahan of West Des Moines, Iowa, Steve (Diane) McClannahan of Runnells, and Dennis (Angela) McClannahan of Altoona, seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, two sisters; Louaine (Gene) Vande Lune of Prairie City and Mona (Keith) Warrick of Colfax, two step-brothers; David McElwee of Huxley and Michael McElwee of Des Moines. Rhonda was preceded in death by her husband, Harlan McClannahan, son, Todd Alan McClannahan, parents, step-father, Frances McElwee, and son-in-law, Randy Kinzer.
Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Colfax Main Street for beautification of downtown Colfax.
