Franklin G. Vander Broek, 75, of Monroe died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Newton, with burial following at Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe, where the family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.

The son of Frank and Johannah (Roghair) Vander Broek, Franklin was born on January 7, 1935, in Orange City, Iowa. He graduated from Orange City High School in Orange City. Franklin proudly served in the National Guard for several years. On June 16, 1957, he was united in marriage to Elaine A. Franzmeier at Zion Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Franklin was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Newton and the Moose Lodge. He also served as a part time police officer in Souix Rapids and Monroe. Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Elaine of Monroe; his children, Linda (David) Beyer and Frank (Kathy) Vander Broek both of Monroe; four grandchildren, Daniel (Kacey) Beyer, Bryan (Alexis) Beyer, Jessica (Jim) Patterson and Cody Vander Broek; and a great grand daughter, Isabella Beyer. Also surviving are sisters, Shirley Boon of Boone, Beverly Rose of Ogden and a sister-in-law, Grayce Vander Broek of Folsom, California. Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers, Edward and Gerald, and sisters, Marilyn, Vera, Marie, and Frances.
