Polhamus, Curtis James – 1956-2010

Curtis James Polhamus, the son of Kermit Polhamus and Charlotte Cline Polhamus Fike, was born Feb. 3, 1956, in Rockford, Ill. Curt served his country in the United States Army. Curt had worked as an over the road truck driver.
On Dec. 6, 1997, Curt was united in marriage with Kitty Snow at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Curt enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, art work and watching the Broncos. Curt was a member of the Izaak Walton League and Our Savior Lutheran Church in Newton.
Curt died on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010, at his home in Newton. He was 54 years old. Curt was preceded in death by his father; his step father, Hardy Fike; his brother, Dennis Fike and his father-in-law, Kenneth Snow.
Those left to honor Curt’s memory include his wife, Kitty of Newton; his mother, Charlotte Fike of Machesney Park, Ill.; his step mother, Mary Polhamus of What Cheer, Iowa; his brothers, Robert Fike and Matthew Polhamus; his step brother, Hugh Fike; his step-sisters, Barbara Rhodes, Deb Mullins and Annie Griffith; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunt, uncles and cousins.
A funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Newton. Friends may greet the family from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
Memorials may be designated in Curt’s name and may be left at the church or at Pence-Reese Funeral Home.
