Ethel Roorda, 84, of Fairhaven East in Pella, a former Prairie City resident, died Sunday, December 22, 1991 at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 24 at Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella. The Rev. Norman J. Stouten, pastor of the Pella Second Reformed Church, conducted the services. Burial was in Porter Grove Cemetery near Pella.
Memorials to Fairhaven East are being accepted.
She is survived by her twin sister, Edith, with whom she had made her home since her retirement from teaching.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
Miss Roorda was a member of the Second Reformed Church and served as secretary of the board of the Christian Benevolent Association of Pella for many years.
She taught mathematics at Buena Vista College in Storm Lake for many years.
The daughter of Gerrit I. and Angeline DeKock Roorda, she was born January 1, 1907 south of Prairie City.
She moved to Pella with her family in 1917 and was a graduate of Pella Community High School and Central College in Pella.
She received her master’s degree from the University of Iowa in Iowa City.
