Schippers, Blanche Bowman – 1901-1992

Blanche Bowman Schippers, 90, a lifelong resident of Monroe, died Saturday evening, January 11, 1992 at Clearview Manor in Prairie City.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 15 at the Monroe Presbyterian Church. Dr. Thomas Bass, pastor of the church, conducted the services. Burial was in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe. Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe handled arrangements.
Memorials to the church, the Monroe Library or the Prairie City or Monroe emergency units are being accepted.
Survivors are a daughter, Donna (Mrs. Don) Gildersleeve of Monroe; two grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a brother, Burton Bowman of Vinton; and a sister, Phyllis Godbold of Brookhaven, Mississippi.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Tunies, a son, Dennis, a grandson, a sister, Mildred, and a brother, Ralph Bowman.
She had been a member of the Monroe Presbyterian Church for 76 years, and attend3ed the church’s Westminster Circle.
The daughter of John and Mary Nimmo Bowman, she was born September 17, 1901 in Monroe.
She was married to Tunies Schippers December 10, 1919 in Monroe.
