Royal Junior Battles, 82, of Colfax died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 12, at the Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax with burial following at McKeever Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, Nov. 11, at the funeral home. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The son of Claude R. and Gladys Helen (Runyon) Battles, Junior was born on October 20, 1928 in Jasper County, Iowa. He graduated from Farrar High School and was united in marriage to Vivian Jean Kvasny. Junior worked at the Monroe Table Company in Colfax for many years. He was a member of the Howard Street Christian Church. He enjoyed farming, working with cattle and dancing.
Those left to honor his memory, a son, Tim Battles of Colfax, a daughter in law, Connie Battles of Colfax; two grandchildren, Joey Battles and Kari Battles; a great grand daughter, Gracie Ann Marie, a sister, Ramona (Fred) Swanson of Newton, and a special friend Helen Brafford. Preceding him in death were his parents, wife in 2000 and a son Kerry in 2001.
