Philip Francis Chambers, 62, of Prairie City, died of a heart ailment Friday, July 17, 1992 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 21 at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City. The Rev. Thomas Nicholas Tormey of Des Moines conducted the services. Graveside rites were held at 2:30 p.m. at Mount Hope Cemetery in Carroll County.
Survivors are his wife, Neva; three daughters, Susan Moser of Indianola, Barbara Martell of Des Moines and Jennifer Anderson of Clive; and five grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Roy of Lakeland, Florida, and Gail of Albia; and a sister, Doris Rovertson of Las Cruces, New Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Mr. Chambers was a maintenance mechanic at Armstrong Tire and Rubber in Des Moines. He had served in the navy and Merchant Marines during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of the American Legion of Albia and the United Rubber Workers Union.
The son or Roy and Inez Amber Chambers, he was born December 1, 1929 in Albia. He was a 1947 graduate of Albia High School.
He was married to Neva Lasher March 23, 1956 in Des Moines.
Mr. Chambers had moved to Prairie City from Des Moines in 1972.
