Edson P. Burch, 84, a resident of Prairie City since 1985, died Friday, April 3, 1992, at Clearview Manor.
Graveside services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 6, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Kirkwood, Missouri. Dr. Thomas Hunter, pastor of the Webster Groves Presbyterian Church, conducted the services. Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City and Gerber Chapel in Webster Groves, Missouri handled arrangements.
Survivors are a daughter, Orian Woods of rural Mitchellville; a son, John of Waldorf, Maryland; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Earl of Fullerton, California.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother in early childhood, his wife, Mary, in 1985; and a granddaughter, Miriam Woods, in 1987.
An aeronautical engineer, Mr. Burch had been employed at McDonnell-Douglas Company in St. Louis, Missouri for over 20 years. After his retirement from there in 1973, he was an artist. He was longtime member of the Webster Groves Presbyterian Church, where he had served as an elder. He was active in a number of organizations in St. Louis.
The son of Edson L. and Orian Prosser Burch, he was born January 16, 1908 in Jefferson City, Missouri. He was a graduate of the University of Missouri.
He was married to Mary Hester Higdon April 20, 1935 in Kansas City, Missouri. They made their home in the St. Louis area for many years. Mr. Burch moved to Prairie City shortly after her death.
