Resident's Sister Died

Bessie Beals Brock, 85, of Clearview Manor in Prairie City, a former resident of rural Monroe, died of heart failure Saturday, Jan. 11, at the Manor.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, at Wallace Pence Funeral Home in Newton.

The Rev. Al Kinrade, pastor of the Prairie City United Methodist Church, conducted services. Burial was in Newton Union Cemetery.

Survivors include two daughters, four grandchildren, and a sister, Neva (Mrs. Roscoe) Maggard of Colfax.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Roy, in 1976, a twin sister, three brothers, and four other sisters.

The daughter of Bert and Mary Baker Beals, she was born June 10, 1906 in Colfax and attended Jasper County schools.

She was married to Roy S. Brock Dec. 15, 1931 in Des Moines. ~ The Jasper County Tribune, Colfax, Ia., Thursday, January 16, 1992

Bessie B. Brock

Prairie City – Bessie Beals Brock, 85, of Clearview Manor in Prairie City, a former resident of rural Monroe, died of heart failure Saturday, Jan 11, at the Manor.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

The Rev. Al Kinrade, pastor of the Prairie City United Methodist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after noon today and visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials to a fund in her name will be accepted.

Survivors are two daughters, Roberta (Mrs. Jack) Findley of Atlanta, Ga., and Beverly (Mrs. Russell) Schakel of Monroe; four grandchildren; and a sister, Neva (Mrs. Roscoe) Maggard of Colfax.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Roy, in 1976, a twin sister, Bonnie Beals, three brothers, Art, Walter and Earl Beals, and four other sisters, Nellie Pink, Grace Loynachan, Esther Rhone and Florence Lane.

A homemaker, she was a member of the United Methodist Church in Monroe and TMTM Club in Monroe.

The daughter of Bert and Mary Baker Beals she was born June 10, 1906 in Colfax and attended Jasper County Schools.
