Death of Charlie Osborn
Our community was shocked on Tuesday morning last, as the sad intelligence was circulated that Charlie Osborn had died that morning. Although having been lying very low for the past two weeks with typhoid fever, but very few had entertained any doubts of his ultimate recovery, and the news of his death so unexpected was a source of sorrow to our people generally, among whom he has resided from early childhood. While visiting the Exposition at Des Moines, last fall, he contracted a severe cold, from the effects of which he has since been almost a constant sufferer, although able to attend to business until a little over a week ago, when he was finally compelled to leave the store, and take to his bed. All that a skilled physician could do, and everything that kind and loving hearts could suggest was done to alleviate his sufferings and save his life so precious to all; but all failed, and he continued to grow worse until Tuesday morning, about 6 o’clock when death came and released him from his sufferings.
Charlie would have been 32 years of age on the 3rd day of September. He was the eldest son of A. J. and Rebecca Osborn. The bereaved parents, brother, sisters and friends have the warmest sympathy of all in their sore affliction.
The funeral services were held at the home of his parents, at 2 o’clock p.m., Wednesday, conducted by Rev. F. W. Evans, of the M. E. Church.
