Daniel Bruce, 62, Newton of died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
A celebration of life service will be from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at the VFW in Newton. Memorials in Danny’s name can be left at the funeral home or at the VFW during the celebration of life service. The Wallace Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Newton is handling arrangements.
The son of Fred and Barbara (Sumpter) Shepard, Danny was born Aug. 13, 1948, in Newton. He attended Newton schools and did maintenance work at the VFW. Danny enjoyed fishing and working on cars.
Danny is survived by his son, Matt Bruce of Newton; three daughters, Michelle Bruce of St. Petersburg, Fla., Stacey Krause of Des Moines and Amanda Bruce of Ferguson; 11 grandchildren., Elijah Bruce, Abigail Bruce, Owen Seelye, Dylan Seelye, Zach Bird, Shyann Krause, Johnny Krause, Gabe Bird, Christopher Bruce, Shane Bruce and Seth Bruce; his brothers and sisters, Mary Ann (Jerry) Allspach of Newton, Jack Bruce of San Francisco, Calif., and Rob (Barb) Shepard of Newton; and his good friend, Steve Sells of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
