Petition for the Establishment of Rural Free Delivery
(most lived in the Vandalia area)
The undersigned heads of families, residing in Polk and Jasper Counties, state of Iowa, respectfully ask that the Rural Free Delivery service be extended to them, the delivery to start from Runnells post office, Polk County, Iowa. The roads over the proposed route are dirt. There are no unbridged creeks and the roads are passable at all seasons of the year. We agree to the official regulations governing the service, and to erect, for the reception of our mail, boxes which have been approved by the Department. (about 1903)
