SUMMERFIELD, Fla. - Dennis A. Felderman, 71, of Summerfield, Fla., passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at The Villages Regional Hospital, The Villages, Fla. Services to celebrate Dennis' life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport, with the Rev. Peter Marty officiating. Dennis' family will greet friends from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, St. Donatus, Iowa, where military honors will be presented by the Bellevue American Legion Post.
A native of Bellevue, Iowa, he was born July 3, 1941, to Edmund and Lois (Gaylor) Felderman, one of three children. Dennis was a U.S. Navy veteran and also served in the U.S. Army reserves. He began a career with John Deere in Davenport, as a welder and, after 27 years, retired as a supervisor of John Deere Industrial. He began a second part-time career in funeral service with Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. Upon his retirement to Summerfield in 2005, he continued this venture with Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Ocala, Fla.
Dennis loved to play golf and was a member of Eagle Ridge Men's Golf Club and especially enjoyed the Dave Judd Tuesday Golf Group at Spruce Creek near his home.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Kay L. Felderman, Summerfield, Fla.; daughter Kim Plank, Stamford, N.Y.; daughter Kelly Walden (Bart), Corinth, Texas; son Mark Felderman (Eileen), Davenport; daughter Shonda Peveler-Besse (Cork Lott), Fort Myers, Fla.; daughter Rhonda Maynard (Brian), Greenfield, Ind.; daughter Lourie Morrissey (Bill), Bettendorf; daughter Michelle Gibson (Martin), Annawan, Ill.; sisters Doris and Susan; mother Lois Felderman, Waverly, Iowa; and grandchildren Maris, Bailey, Jeremy, Brianna, Jacob, Matthew, Katie, Ryan, Kaylea and Riley.
