OBITUARY-
Mary Brumbaugh Nodle was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, Dec. 5, 1811, and died at the home of her daughter in Guthrie County, Iowa, August 22, 1898, at the age of 88 years, 8 months and 17 days.
In infancy she came with her parents to Ohio in 1812 and grew to womanhood where she was married to Henry Nodle March 24, 1832, with whom she lived happily until his decease in October, 1855, from which time she fought the battle of life alone and raised to manhood and womanhood four sons and six daughters.
She came to Iowa in the fall of 1855 and located in South Fork Township, where she resided until 1888, when she went to Guthrie County and made her home during her latter years with her daughters Lydia and Sarah.
She made a profession of religion in 1854 and was baptized in the German Baptist Church in which faith she lived until her demise.
The remains came to Maquoketa August 24 from Guthrie County and were conveyed to the home of her son, Louis Nodle, three miles west of Maquoketa. Funeral services at Buckhorn Church were Thursday, 11 a.m. and interrment in Buckhorn Cemetery, Rev. D. F. Boomershine officiating.
There remain to mourn the loss of an affectionate mother, three sons, Abraham, now residing in western Idaho; Lewis, residing near the old homestead; Jacob residing in Monona County, and four daughters, Mrs. Catherine Hall of Carroll County, Mrs. Lydia Ommen and Mrs. Sarah Messerli of Guthrie County and Mrs. Almeda Dell of Maquoketa.
