Edward Brown 1850-1901

Edward Brown, son of John and Johanna Brown, was born in New York City on April 10, 1850. He farmed with his father until he was twenty-seven then began buying stock for William Ryan of Dubuque. From 1882 until 1886 he was engaged in mercantile business in Bernard and established the Bernard Creamery. He then returned to stock buying and was a prominent dealer in Bernard. On June 21, 1885, he married Jane Seery of Jones County. They were the parents of one son, Frank. In 1891, Ed was elected Trustee of Prairie Creek Township. He owned 160 acres of land in Sec. 28.

Brown, Edward.(NY, Apr. 10, 1845 - Cascade, IA, June 14, 1901). Supervisor. Brown came to Iowa in 1856 and Dubuque, County in 1870. He became a farmer, township trustee and buyer and seller of stock for twenty years in Prairie Creek Township. Elected to the Dubuque County Board of Supervisors, Brown served from January 1, 1896, until his death six months before the end of his second term.
