Gordon G. Wolfe was born March 7, 1935, in Fredonia, North Dakota the only child of Albert and Ida (Wolf) Wolfe. Gordon graduated from the public schools in Portland, OR, and later Portland State University with a degree in education and a master’s degree in counseling. Gordon was united in marriage to Bertina Schnebbe on August 31, 1957 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Conroy, Iowa. He was an educator, counselor, and administrator for the Portland Public School District for a number of years. After this he moved to Alaska where he worked as a building contractor, and owning and managing commercial properties. Gordon died Monday, May 4, 2026, at the Highland Ridge Care Center in Williamsburg at the age of 91 years.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Bertina; three children: Lynn (James) Devlin of Kodiak, AK, Heather (Mike) Anderson of Anchorage, AK and Stephen (Ann) Jones of Portland, OR; grandchildren: Patrick (Mylaine) Devlin of Honolulu, HI, Shannon (Zachary) Schmeil of Kodiak, AK, Michael Anderson of Anchorage, AK, Ahlena Anderson of Anchorage, AK and Dr. Heather Jones (Todd Nickolich) of Boulder, CO and great grandchildren: Blake and Jason Schmeil, Holden, Skyler, Kia Jones-Nickolich . Also surviving is a brother-in-law: Harlan (Barb) Schnebbe of Williamsburg and sisters-in-law: Lynda Schnebbe of Belle Plaine and Delma Schnebbe of Homestead, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
