Grace Louise Schumacher, 88, of Davenport, passed away peacefully Monday, November 27, 2023, at Genesis East, Davenport, Iowa, surrounded by her family.

Funeral Services will be held at Runge Mortuary on Monday, December 4, 2023 at 12:00pm. Visitation will be from 11:00am until 12:00pm. A private burial will take place at Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Riverbend Food Bank or Trinity Lutheran Church where she was a long time member. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.

Grace Louise Floerchinger was born on February 22, 1935, in Victor, Iowa, to Carl and Anna (Hinrichs) Floerchinger. She was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran in Conroy, Iowa in 1948. She graduated from Conroy High School in 1952. She married David Julius Soedt on August 10, 1952 in Conroy, Iowa. He preceded her in death December 23, 1957. She later married Roy Edward Schumacher on November 4, 1960, in Marengo, Iowa.

Grace had previously worked as an accounting technician for the Rock Island Arsenal retiring in 2000.

Grace was incredibly crafty. She was always working on multiple projects including ceramics, basket weaving, embroidering, crocheting, quilting, and sewing. She was an excellent cook and one of her favorite past times was reading cookbooks. She was an avid gardener and very proud of her canned tomatoes, pickled cucumbers, and frozen sweetcorn. Grace was very proud of her family.

In addition to her husband, Roy, she is survived by her sons, Gary (Nancy) Soedt, Randy (Judy) Soedt, Ken (Ruth) Soedt, and Doug Schumacher; grandchildren, Ryan (Kristina) Soedt, Danielle (Pablo) Capistrano, Erin (Matthew Parise) Soedt, Mackenzie (Michael) DeNardis, Dana Soedt, and Gena Soedt; great grandchildren, Lexi (Adam Quested) Soedt, Logan Soedt, Archer DeNardis, Truman DeNardis, Milo Capistrano, Marcela Capistrano, Alanah Boley, and Xavier Lira; and great-great grandchild, Bentley Quested. She is also survived by sisters, Sylvia (Don) Kummer, Virginia (Dale) Sperry, Mary (Chuck) Wilde, and Carol (Alan) Hubbard.

In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
