Evelyn Arlene Stepanek, 96, of Marion, Iowa, died Saturday, March 16, 2024. A visitation will be held from 9 - 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Burial: Anderson Cemetery, Swisher, Iowa.

Evelyn was born February 1, 1928, in Millersburg, Iowa, the daughter of Cledith and Gertrude (Dhondt) Grimm. She was united in marriage to Melvin William Stepanek on November 24, 1951, in Millersburg. Evelyn balanced her role as a waitress with her most cherished role as a stay-at-home mother. She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids VFW Post #788 Auxiliary, Cedar Rapids Fraternal Order of Eagles #2272, and a former member of St. Ludmila Catholic Church. Evelyn's greatest joy was found in family gatherings. She adored her cats and dogs and found delight in activities such as golfing, pontooning, and bowling, even well into her 90s.

Survivors include her husband of 72 years, Melvin Stepanek of Marion; sons, Wendell (Connie) Stepanek of Cedar Rapids, and Denny (June) Stepanek of Manchester, Iowa; five grandchildren, Jason Stepanek (Sivi Rasmussen-Power), Chad Stepanek, Jarrod Stepanek, Stacy (Nathan) Fett, and Lindsey Grimm (Alex); and five great-grandchildren; and special cousin, Donna Grimm.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cledith and Gertrude Grimm; brother, Melvin Grimm; and cousin, Bennie Grimm.
