James R. Coon, age 52, of Marengo, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2024 at Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo. There will not be any services at this time. Memorials may be directed to the family. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, is assisting the family with arrangements.

James is survived by his five children, Theo-Caine Coon, Quinten Coon, Danielle Coon, Cheyenne Coon and Lana Coon; a step-son Bailey Kruse; three siblings, Jerry Coon, Heather Tighe and a bonus brother/best friend, Brandy Higgins; and four grandchildren, Daniel, Tony and Dante Cardenas and Makenna Hopkins.

He was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn Kruse, his parents, Roy Coon and Patricia Keim; a step-daughter Hailey Kruse and two brothers, Jeff and Jay Coon.

James Russell Coon was born July 8, 1971 in Moline, Illinois, the son of Roy Coon and Patricia Keim. He graduated from Winola High School, in Viola, Illinois. James was employed through Trigo, in Amana, as a quality inspector. He enjoyed talking about old cars, attending car shows, fishing with his daughter Cheyenne and his grandkids and watching old John Wayne movies. James had a love of 80’s hairband music and going to concerts. He passed that love of music onto his children. Spending time with family and friends was very important to James and he loved going back home to Illinois to see them. He was very proud of his son Quinten for his military service.
