Verla L. Crovisier, 91, of Thor, died Saturday, June 11, 2005, at the Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 13, 2005, at the Ullensvang Lutheran Church in Thor, with the Rev. H. W. Schiller officiating. Interment was in the East Ullensvang Cemetery in Thor.

Verla Crovisier was born April 12, 1914, on a farm near Goldfield, the daughter of John and Iva (Helmer) McCutcheon. She attended rural schools, graduating from Goldfield High School. Verla worked as a homemaker and at various other jobs. On December 21, 1938, she married Harry Crovisier at her parent’s home near Goldfield. They lived near Eagle Grove before moving in 1942 to a farm near Thor. She helped her husband on the farm. They retired in 1981. He preceded her in death on May 11, 1988. Verla remained on the farm until entering the Rotary Ann Nursing Home on December 3, 2001. She was a member of the Ullensvang Lutheran Church of Thor and was a member of the Sarah Circle. She enjoyed playing cards with her card club and was a member of the Thor Hobby Club.

She is survived by her daughter, Betty Davis, and her husband, Larry, of Eagle Grove; a son-in-law, James Mallinger, of Fort Dodge; five grandchildren; Brett Mallinger and his wife, Sandy, of Fort Dodge; Colleen Owings and her husband, Jeff; and Collette Prill and her husband, John, both of Sheridan, Wyo.; Duane Davis and his wife, Kathy, of Collins; Deanne Hatcher and her husband, Jerod, of Humboldt; 13 great-grandchildren; Samantha Mallinger, James, Michael, Jesse, and Mason Cerwick; Stephanie and Stephen Prill, Barbie, Katie, and Jenny Owings, Leah and Ashlyn Davis, and Carter Hatcher. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Iva (Helmer) McCutcheon, husband, Harry; daughter, Barbara, four brothers: Walter, Leonard, Lawrence, and Donald, and two sisters: Marian Heslop and Vera Lewis.

The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt was in charge of the arrangements.
