OBITUARY
Combs.
Fred Combs, second child of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Combs, departed this life Monday, Oct. 4, at the University hospital, Minneapolis, where he had been a patient for some time. The deceased, who was about 18 years of age, contracted the influenza last spring, from which he never fully recovered, other complications setting in which resulted in a disease of the heart. The remains were brought here to the home of his parents, from which place the funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, Rev. Bockoven officiant, with interment in Oak Lawn cemetery. The deceased leaves to mourn his death, his parents, several brothers and sisters and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joshua Bates, of Elk River, Minn.

Combs
Fred Raymond Combs was born in Cresco, Iowa, January 13, 1902, and died in Minneapolis at the University Hospital, October 4, 1920, where he was taken by his grandparents in hopes that the treatment there would help him. Although he had the best of care and treatment it did no good. His death was caused by acute ventricular mitral endocarditis. He was one who suffered a great deal though he never complained, he was always cheerful. He leaves father, mother, three brothers, six sisters, grandparents, and other relatives.Transcriber’s Note: Oak Lawn Cemetery shows he was born in 1902.
