Randy Whalen, 68, of Lime Springs, Iowa, passed away Monday, October 13, 2025, at his home.

Randy Scott James Whalen was born October 31, 1956, in Caledonia, Minnesota, to Edward “Eddie” and Leona Whalen. Growing up on the farm and working alongside his dad molded who Randy was as a person. He took the many talents he had and worked various jobs in construction before going on to work for Featherlite in Cresco. Randy recently retired from Featherlite in April of 2025.

Randy was a man of few words; he preferred to take in conversations without a lot to say besides a friendly smirk with a Busch Light in his hand. He was the king of corny dad jokes along with giving everyone in the family unique nicknames. With a little liquid courage Randy was known to pull people out on the dance floor. Randy had a huge heart and was known to help out anybody.

Randy is survived by his three children; Mikel (Kelly) Hansen of Ames, Iowa, Erika (Michael) Malena of Ionia, Iowa, Cassidy Whalen of Mankato, Minnesota; grandchildren, Hadley, Blythe, Graham, Merrick, Kali, and Paisley; his brother, Kevin (Della) Whalen of Canton, Minnesota; his sister, Brenda (Allen) Holthaus of Cresco, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and special friend, Elaine St. Mary and her children, Carter, Olivia, and Wyatt.

He is preceded in death by his parents Eddie and Leona Whalen; brother Daniel (Joan) Whalen, many aunts, uncles, cousins, along with many great friends.

A Celebration of life will be held Saturday, November 22, 2025, at the Heritage Event Center, 229 3rd Ave West, Cresco, IA, from 4-7 p.m.

Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home in Cresco is assisting the family.
