CRESCO - Karen S. Jacobs, 71, of Shell Rock died on Thursday, July 4, 2024, at Unity Point Health-Allen Memorial in Waterloo.
Karen Suzanne Jacobs was born on October 26, 1952, the daughter of Joseph and Martha (Hosek) Clark in Cresco, Iowa. She graduated from Crestwood High School in 1970 and attended Young’s Cosmetology College in Waterloo Iowa graduating at the top of her class. Karen worked at JC Penny’s Beauty Salon and at Waterloo Industries. On August 1, 1992, she was united in marriage to Bruce Lee Jacobs in Waterloo. She retired in October of 2014.
She had a passion for golf, loved music, dance, and was also great at music trivia. Besides golf, Karen was very disciplined in keeping fit, following a strict diet, and doing various types of Pilates. She loved working on mind games daily and was an avid learner researching many things from healthy lifestyle to pop culture. She also had a great capacity for memorization especially when telling jokes or funny stories.
Survivors are her husband, Bruce Jacobs of Shell Rock; daughter, Kimberly (Steve) Jacobsen of Evansdale; two sons, Zackery (Melissa) Jacobs of Clarksville and Uriah Jacobs of Waverly; three grandchildren, Taya, Gavin and Keidan Jacobs; and five sisters, Virginia Clark of Cresco, Elaine Brookins of Cresco, Patricia Clark of Blaine, MN, Debra (John) Hayward of Atmore, Alabama and Lynette (Dan) Thornburg of Des Moines; sister-in-law, Diane (Jeff) Johnson of Parkersburg and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws, LeRoy and Leona Jacobs and two brothers-in-law, Roger Brookins and Gene Jacobs.
Karen has been cremated. There is a celebration of life for Karen at the Card Inc. Golf and Country Club, 20303-188 Clarksville IA 50619; 319-278-4787, Saturday, August 3rd from 3 to 5 pm.
