OBITUARY.
Stradley.
John G. Stradley was born at Rochester, Indiana, Sept. 23, 1847, and died at Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., Sept. 13, 1918.
As a young man he served throughout the Civil War, enlisting as a drummer boy in August, 1861, and being mustered out after the peace celebration in Washington in 1865.
After several years spent at various points in Iowa he located at Cresco in 1873 where he resided until 1885, taking an active part in the civil and social life of the community.
He removed to Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., in 1885, at which place he established an abstract plant and early became one of its most active citizens.
Mr. Stradley was married on January 1st, 1879, to Ida F. Woodcock, the daughter of Lawson T. Woodcock of this place, who died in May, 1882. On June 23, 1887, he married Ella F. Clark, daughter of F. M. Clark of Lime Springs. He is survived by his widow, Ella F. Stradley, and two sons, John W. Stradley and Frederick C. Stradley.
The remains, accompanied by his son John, were brought to Cresco for interment. The funeral was held on Monday afternoon at the Congregational church, Rev. Bockoven officiating, in charge of the Masonic fraternity, Burial was at Oak Lawn.
