Myrna Mae Moore passed away peacefully on March 11, 2024, in Fredericksburg, IA. Born on December 23, 1934, the daughter of Paul and Ethel (Stevenson) Laue, in Lime Springs, IA, Myrna's journey was one marked by curiosity, dedication, faith, and the joy of teaching.

A proud graduate of Lime Springs High School in 1951, Myrna's thirst for education propelled her to Iowa Teachers College, now known as the University of Northern Iowa, where she earned her degree in education. Her commitment to learning never waned, as she later achieved her Master's degree from the University of Iowa, all while shaping the minds of future generations.

Myrna's career as an educator began at Valley Community Schools near Elgin, IA, where a serendipitous encounter with Robert Moore would change her life. After losing her way and seeking directions from Robert, an instant connection sparked. The couple wed on August 5, 1956, at the Lime Springs Methodist Church, embarking on a lifetime of love and companionship. Together, they welcomed two children, Alan and Nancy, into their hearts and home.

For 39 years, Myrna devoted herself to teaching at Valley Community Schools, where her passion for nature and science illuminated her classroom. She was a mentor and friend to many, leaving a lasting impact on countless students. When her husband's job necessitated a move in 1978, Myrna's dedication saw her commuting to Valley, a testament to the unbreakable bonds she had formed.

Myrna's love for the outdoors was more than a hobby; it was a way of life. She served on the Chickasaw County Conservation Board, helping to preserve the beauty of the local nature landscape and provide availability for new nature educational opportunities. Her adventurous spirit found joy in camping, golfing, traveling to national parks, and embracing the simple pleasures of nature and the outdoors.

A devout Christian, Myrna's church and faith were the cornerstones of her existence. She lived her faith with grace and purpose, ensuring it was always a guiding force in her life. Her crisp soprano voice was often a highlight across many church services.

Above all, Myrna's grandchildren were her crowning delight. Their laughter and discoveries brought her immeasurable happiness, and she cherished every moment spent in their company.

Described as intelligent, loving, and faith-filled, Myrna's legacy is one of enduring love and the pursuit of knowledge. She was a woman who lived life fully with an open heart and an open mind, built and celebrated strong friendships, encouraged strong immediate and extended family circles, and faced learning opportunities with enthusiasm.

Myrna is survived by her daughter, Nancy (David) Zittergruen of Chaska, MN; daughter-in-law, Johnna Moore of Colfax, IA; four grandchildren, Siouxzee (Forrest Thompson) Moore of Lake Mills, IA; Joseph (Ellie Richter) Zittergruen of Hopkins, MN, Rachel Zittergruen of Cedar Rapids, IA, Evan Moore of Bettendorf, IA; five great-grandchildren and one remaining sister-in-law, Joan Moore of Postville, IA; along with many nieces and nephews.
