Joyce Dozark, age 88, of Lime Springs, IA passed away on March 6, 2024 at the Riceville Family Care and Therapy Center in Riceville, IA.
Joyce Marie (Patton) Dozark was born on January 22, 1936 to Floyd and Grace (Wilcox) Patton. She was born at the home of her grandparents, Ezra and Anna Wilcox, in Howard County, IA. Joyce grew up in the Chester area attending Oak Dale #5 country school and Leroy High School. She put her education on hold to go to work. It was important to Joyce to graduate high school. She earned her GED in her 40’s and her children hosted a graduation party to celebrate this accomplishment.
On September 18, 1954 Joyce married William C. Dozark in Northwood, IA. Together they had three children. They raised their family in the Lime Springs, Leroy and Riceville areas.
Joyce was a very creative woman. She enjoyed painting saw blades and rosemaling . She had a love for interior decorating and home renovation projects, with a vast collection of home interior prints. She enjoyed spending time in the garden, growing beautiful flowers and fruits and vegetables. Joyce was a wonderful cook and baker, her fresh red raspberry pies and “Sunday Chicken” dinners are fondly remember by her family. She loved listening to the birds.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, her husband William C. Dozark, two sons William P. “Wilbur” Dozark and Randy Dozark, grandson John and great-grandson Leslee, sisters Norma (Jim) Spencer and Virginia (Wayne) Lovik, brother Robert (Sharon) Patton and brother in-law Mike Robb.
Survivors include her daughter Lisa (Jerry Hinck) Hughes, daughters-in-law Kathy Dozark and Tammy Tesner, eight grandchildren: Jenny, Melissa, Jack, Keisha, Lonnie, Mandy, Evan and Willie, 22 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, two step-great-great-grandchildren, sister Shirley Robb, sister in-law Diana Lauterbach and special friend Gary Price.
