Golden Wedding Anniversary.
July 15th 1861, at Scandinavia, Wis., occurred the marriage of Miss Anna Peterson to John Johnson, Rev. Brandt officiating. Saturday last being the 50th anniversary of their wedding, about 125 relatives and old friends of Mr. and Mrs. Johnson gathered at their home in the afternoon to help this estimable couple properly celebrate the occasion. The afternoon was pleasantly spent in social intercourse. An elaborate supper was served at six o’clock, the bridal couple with a few relatives and intimate friends being seated at a table specially prepared for them. Before supper was served, Rev. Larsen addressed the company in a few well chosen words relative to the useful lives led by Mr. and Mrs. Johnson and the prominent part taken by them in the business and social circles of our city. At the conclusion of these remarks, Rev. Larsen presented to them in behalf of the assembled company a purse containing $150 in gold, as a token of their love and esteem. Besides this purse, several smaller tokens of remembrance were received by them. A group picture was taken of the assemblage by C. D. Taylor, which will serve as a pleasant reminder of the occasion. Among those present from out-of-town were Mrs. M. Langland, of Rothsay, Minn., an adopted daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Johnson; Mr. and Mrs. Austad and daughter, Mrs. Shaw with her son all of Enderlin, N. D.; Mr. and Mrs. J. Ellestad, of Decorah; Mrs. Losen, of Hesper, Minn.; Mrs. Iverson and Miss Iverson, of Harmony, Minn.; and Mr. and Mrs. Gunderson and children of Ridgeway.
