Golden Wedding.
On December 29th, Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Carver celebrated the fiftieth anni-{sic} anniversary of their marriage. Howard county has been the scene of the joys and sorrows of this worthy couple. Their acquaintance began here in the fall of 1856, during the early days of pioneering. They were married at Prairie du Chein, Wisconsin, Dec. 29, 1859, driving from Vernon Springs to that place, there being no railroad through at that time. After a winter spent in Evanston, Ill., they took up their residence here and have always made Cresco and vicinity their home.
Although Mr. and Mrs. Carver, like some others who celebrate their Golden Wedding were not able to gather about them a host of children and grand-children, they were the recipients of many messages of congratulation and esteem from relatives and old time friends both far and near, tokens of kindly remembrance which will be highly prized as mementoes of the happy occasion.
