John P. Smith, an old resident south of town about a mile, died Wednesday morning at 8 o'clock. He was about 81 years of age, having lived in Henry County since about 1849. The funeral will be held Friday morning at 11 o'clock from the house and the burial will take place at Forest Home Cemetery. He leaves a wife and several children.
