On Tuesday, last week, Col. L. R. Bolter, of Harrison county, passed away, aged sixty-seven years. Probably no man in the state served the public in more general assemblies than he did, and no one will be remembered more distinctly by his thousands of associates. He was a genuine, old-fashioned Jeffersonian Democrat in practice as well as theory, and during his long experience as a law maker his rule of action was, “Is this legislation necessary?” Unless this could be shown, he was always on the negative side. He was one of the last, as well as one of the ablest of the old-line Democrats of Iowa.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he is buried in Logan Cemetery and was born June 27, 1834 and died April 29, 1901.
