BRAGA SERVICES HELD HERE TODAY

Funeral Services were held here today at the Congregational Church for a pioneer Iowa Falls businessman, Irvin Welcome Braga,77 who died Saturday November 2, 1957 following an illness of several weeks. Burial was in the Union Cemetery.

Mr. Braga was born on March 9, 1880 in Sycamore, Illinois, the son of Matthias and Mary Abbott Braga. His first wife Marcella Mary Courtney died in 1922 and he was married on November 17, 1929 in Chamberlain South Dakota to Isabelle Nelson of Dows, who survives.

Mr. Braga came to Iowa Falls in 1910 and at that time operated the Brantwood Cafe here. He was in the cafe business until 1918, when he moved to a farm in South Dakota, In 1923 he returned with his family to Iowa Falls and started the automobile business which still bears this name here.

In 1940 Mr. Braga tool his four sons , Marvin, Stanley, DeVere and Vincent, into the automobile business with him here and three sons still are in the automobile business here. He served several years as a director of the Iowa Falls State Bank. One son Vincent, has since moved to Lebanon, Indiana.

Surviving, in addition to the four sons and his wife are a daughter Mrs. Lyle (Beulah) Patton of Hampton; three sisters Mrs. J.F. (Ida) Courtney of Hampton, Mrs. T.L. (Emma) Maitland and Mrs. Jess (Anna) Brogan, both of Thornton; and a brother Walter Braga of Meservey. He war preceded in death in addition to his parents a sister Lana Galloway and two brothers Charles and Lewis.
