Services for Wayne Calvin Dudgeon, 76, of Britt, who died Tuesday, June 15, 1999 at his home, were held Saturday, June 19, 10:30 a.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Britt with Rev. Marvin Bries officiating.

Music was provided by organist, Brenda Smith who accompanied soloist, Allison Hejlik. Lector was Jerry Hobscheidt. Ushers were Jim Arndorfer, Roger Jacobson and Allan Doughan.

Honorary bearers were Bob Anderson, Paul Devine, Forrest Eckels, Verlyn Friedow, Bill Mann and Allen Markham.

Active bearers were Pat Grant, Paul Kelly, Dean Nielsen, Mike Richter, Tony Sorenson and Dale Swenson.

Interment was held at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Britt with full military graveside services conducted by Britt VFW and American Legion Post #315.

Wayne Calvin Dudgeon, the son of John "Ellis" and Hilma Johnson Dudgeon was born August 22, 1922 on a farm northwest of Britt. He was a 1940 Britt High School graduate and attended Britt Junior College. Wayne entered the United States Army Air Force in December of 1940 and served in China and India with the "Flying Tigers."

He married Gloria Myslewski in 1946 and farmed in the Britt area from 1948-1965. He worked for the Britt Farmers Co-op from 1965 until his retirement in 1984. For the next 13 years he drove the Hancock County Transit Van. Wayne was rural school director and 4-H leader. He served on the ASCS committee for 13 years. He was commander of the Britt VFW and president of the Hancock County Association for Retarded Citizens. Wayne was a member of the American Legion and a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Wayne was also a member of the 14th Air Force Association.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria; nine children, MaDonna Novak and her husband, Mike of Muscatine, Tom Dudgeon of Riverside, CA; Catherine Sorenson and her husband, Brian of Guttenberg, Teresa VanDine and her husband, Jon of San Diego, CA; Mary Jane Scott and her husband, Lawrence Jr. of Irvine CA; Sandy Dudgeon of Clear Lake; Joanne Dudgeon of Ames; Loretta Harvey and her husband, Todd of Erie, Co, John Dudgeon and his wife, Jody of Olathe, KS; 17 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; three brothers, Floyd Dudgeon of Bethel Island, CA; Shirley Dudgeon and his wife, Dorothy of Clear Lake, and Dale Dudgeon of Ipswich, MA.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
