Services for Bernice E. Schrader, 80, of Britt, who died Tuesday. March 15, 1994 at the Kanawha Community Nursing Home were held 1:30 p.m., Friday, March 18, at First Lutheran Church in Britt with Rev. James A. Mattson as officiant.

Mrs. Donna Tech was organist and accompanied Mrs. Paul Smith. Ushers were Duane Howlett and Gary Kahlstorf.

Casket bearers were John Surat, Jim Surat, Kurt Schrader, M. Jay Schrader, James Schrader and Jeff Cronick.

Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Britt. Visitation was held at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Britt.

Bernice E. Schrader, daughter of Birnie and Margaret (Buchanan) Burlingame, was born September 28, 1913 at Algona. After graduating from Algona High School, she attended a secretarial school in Minneapolis, MN.

September 28, 1942, she married Miner G. Schrader at Papillion, NE. They lived in Britt all of their married life, with the exception of three years, when they lived in Arizona and Texas, where Miner was in the Army Air Corps. Several years after her husband's death in 1969, she moved to Prairie View Apartments in Garner. Due to ill health, she moved to the Kanawha Community Nursing Home, April 19, 1988. She enjoyed sewing and cats and helping family and friends.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Evangelical Lutheran Church Women, the American Legion Auxiliary, Hancock County Historical Society and was a former Girl Scout leader and Cub Scout Den Mother.

She is survived by her children, M. Jerry Schrader of Pompano Beach. FL, Dr. James Schrader and his wife, Judy, of Omaha, NE, Judy Schrader of Salem, OR and Jean Lang and her husband, David, of Moscow, ID; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; her twin sister, Eunice Wickwire of Algona; and two brothers, Milton Burlingame and his wife, Arleta, of Algona and Glen Burlingame and his wife. Phyllis, of Algona.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Miner G. Schrader on November 8, 1969; her parents; an infant sister, Grace Virginia Burlingame and two infant brothers, Myron Burlingame and Austin Burlingame.
