1934-1997Services for Betty Ann Henken, 63, Klemme, who died Thursday, Oct. 22, 1997, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, were held Saturday, Oct. 25, 10:30 a.m., at the Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ in Klemme with Rev. Jerry Robertson officiating.
Music was provided by organist, Madelyn Priebe. Ushers were Calvin Bruggeman and Raymond Schoenwetter.
Casket bearers were Randy Haugland, Neal Haugland, Joe Torkelson, Greg Henken, Perry Kirschbaum and Jason Henken.
Betty Ann Henken, the daughter of Elmer and Mary (Eden) Hauptly, was born July 13, 1934, at Wesley. She graduated from Garner High School and worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for Ley Motors in Lakota and Forest City; and worked at the Hancock County Courthouse for 29 years.
September 14, 1971, she married Gerd Henken at the Garner United Methodist Church where they have been longtime members. They lived on an acreage near Miller for many years and moved to the Klemme Apartments.
Betty enjoyed traveling with Gerd, and visiting her friends. She liked playing bingo and especially her special dog "topper".
She is survived by her husband, Gerd of Klemme; step-daughters, Valerie, Crystal and Tammy: step-sons, Gregory, Michael and Scott: 15 step-grandchildren; and a sister, Barbara Haugland and her husband, Bobbie of Garner.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
